We have been working around the clock to get ready for all of our students and have some updates about how we’ll be starting the school year on Sept. 1.
Class Placements & Courses
Families of elementary students will be notified of their child’s teacher on Monday, Aug. 31 and teachers will reach out on Sept. 1 to schedule family connection conferences. Further information about elementary specials will be provided soon. The district is currently developing master schedules to accommodate student-selected courses and we anticipate sharing those soon.
Schedule For First Week Of School
The first days of the school year will be Sept. 1-4. Here’s a breakdown of how the week will be structured:
- Sept. 1
Virtual Welcome: Dr. Jesse Buchholz, RSD Director of Online Learning, and other staff will formally welcome students and families to RVS, go over the learning schedule for the remainder of the school year & more. Watch Our Virtual Welcome
- Sept. 2-4
Family Connection Meetings (elementary): Elementary teachers and families meet via Zoom or phone call to make introductions, share student goals.
Introduction To APEX (secondary): Students and families can learn about APEX, which will provide curricula for core subjects such as language arts, math, social studies, science.
Technology Tutorials: students and families access online tutorials for RVS’ Core 4 learning platforms — Canvas, Google Suite, Canvas Studio & Zoom.
School Supplies & Chromebooks
Each RVS student will be able to pick up any back-to-school learning materials at their home school. Students will continue to use the Chromebooks they were issued by the district last school year (students new to the district should contact their home school).
