This year, we have been working hard to plan out the new Richland Virtual School. A design team, comprised of teachers, parents, district administrators, and WSU professors are collaborating on developing this new online school for students in our community and across the state of Washington. Next school year, students can be fully enrolled into our school, for not only their core content classes, but also their specials (for elementary) and electives (for secondary). For high school students, we will offer courses to meet state and district graduation requirements.
At our new online school, we will foster a caring community of online learners who support each other in accomplishing their individual learning plans. We will deliver flexible, dynamic, and relevant virtual learning opportunities for every learner to receive high quality instruction in a student-centered environment. We will strive to meet the diverse needs of our families with individualized focus on our students.
Now, we want your input for a new school name, as well as a mascot and school colors! “Richland Virtual School” has been a temporary name for our temporary situation. As we prepare to become a full-fledged online school, we need a permanent name that exemplifies our goals, a mascot that embodies our spirit, and colors that paint our true colors.
